Acting for Teens with Charlie Hughes

This 10 week drama course is designed to give students a basic foundation in Acting skills whilst encouraging their authentic creative voice. Students will take part in group exercises and activities that include drama games, improvisation, ensemble-building, and monologue/scene rehearsal. They will work together in preparation of a scene or monologue for a showcase performance at the end of the term. Suitable for teenagers. No experience required.

Acting for Screen for Teens

This course is aimed at the 13 to 19 age group. It will give students a basic foundation in acting skills, with an emphasis on acting for the camera. Suitable for all levels of experience, it is also ideal for those who would like to gain an introduction to the craft of acting. This class has been so popular that we recommend you book asap!

Introduction to Acting primary School ages 8-10yrs

This course consists of 10 acting classes and is designed to give participants a basic foundation in Acting skills. Suitable for primary school students ages 8, 9, & 10yrs only. Students will take part in group exercises and activities that include drama games, improvisation, ensemble-building, and scene work. No experience required.

An Introduction to Costume Design with Audrey Dower

This course is for secondary school art students (1st year to 6th year) who are interested in textiles and making, and who may be interested in exploring the subject as a potential career. Over this 10 week course students will learn how to present ideas and execute an individual costume for their desired character, that may then be used as part of a personal portfolio. Costume Design Tutor Audrey Ann Dower is a costume and textile designer based in Killarney. She has an Honours Degree in Fashion and Textiles for Product and Costume Design, and one year in Print Contemporary Practice both from the Limerick School of Art and Design. She has worked on productions such as “The Young Offenders” (RTE), “Moonhaven” (AMC) and “Joyride” (Screen Ireland).

  • Exploring personal creativity whilst following a brief
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the design process from research to design development
  • How to apply the use of textiles
  • Learn and develop sewing skills and fabric manipulation

SENIOR Youth Theatre Club

Our Weekend Youth Theatre Club continues January 2024 at West End House. This programme is suitable for those aged 13 – 17 with some experience in performance who enjoy creating their own work. The workshops will endeavour to create a Youth Theatre ensemble that will develop skills in performance and theatre-making. The term will end with a performance for friends and family at West End House.

JUNIOR Youth Theatre Club

Our Weekend Youth Theatre Club is expanding! We can now offer places on our brand new Junior Youth Theatre Club for ages 10, 11 and 12yrs from April 2024 at West End House. This programme is suitable for those aged 10 – 12yrs as a ‘next-step’ or progression from our Tuesday afternoon class, or for those students with some experience in performance who enjoy creating their own work. The workshops will endeavour to create a Youth Theatre ensemble that will develop skills in performance and theatre-making. The term will end with a performance for friends and family at West End House.
